The African Center, Indianapolis
A Caring Place for Africans and their Families

Registered as African Community International, Inc., otherwise (dba) The African Center traces its roots to 1995 when a group of African-born professionals began to address the needs of African-born residents within metropolitan Indianapolis and central Indiana. Officially forming itself as a nonprofit Organization in 2001, the African Center seeks to provide services, programs, and consulting that satisfy the needs of the most vulnerable segments of the African-born community. To all the African-born residents and their families within the metropolitan Indianapolis area, the African Center is a reliable and innovative resource for aid, support, and cultural expression.

Africans in Indiana and other parts of the United States will possess the ingredients they need in order to stabilize, connect, and participate effectively in American society; develop and reach their dreams; and contribute to the development of themselves, their countries of origin, and humanity.

Philosophy
The organization’s operational philosophy is based on support and empowerment with the belief that the end result will lead to a shared, dynamic vision of a community’s future, which inspires members to work together to secure that future.

The African Center is the umbrella body for the African associations in central Indiana. As such, it is the sole provider of integrated services and continuous support for Africans in the community. Our services are culturally relevant and linguistically appropriate.
